We're still celebrating great news! Wednesday Mom got the results of her stomach scan after finishing the chemo treatments. Results came back looking good! The scan did show a fragment particle in the bone which appears to be nothing but steps may be taken to have it looked at further to be sure.
Mom was scheduled for her 2nd scope in November however her oncologist has suggested sooner just to be safe. This will happen sometime in September. They did discuss options of removing the stomach but feel it would only provide a disservice to Mom should she need it in the future. It sure came in handy these past few months! :)
Because we know the cancer had spread to the upper part of the diaphragm, lower esophagus and lymph node we aren't taking any changes and her doctor has suggested the idea of a 2nd opinion. We're hoping for the same results but if anything is different it would have proven to be a wise choice.
We're in a good place right now, a crossroads so to speak, a new stage. Along with this comes more questions, fears and anxiety. Our focus is to get Mom back to optimal health and keep the caner away, or to find it hiding elsewhere so we can kick it's butt again!
The clinic is putting Mom's case on the board for doctors to review and discuss. They'll also continue to push her prevention drug as maintenance to be covered by insurance (Avastin) www.avastin.com
No further chemo treatment has been recommended at this time. We'll keep you posted on the 2nd opinion details to come soon!
With continued thanks, love and deepest appreciation,
