Kathy (Langford) Valtille

We just found out that a good friend of our family and our "sister" growing up on Douglas Avenue has been diagnosed with cancer. She had a cold that would not go away and then ultimately found to have acute leukemia. We would appreciate it if you would please keep Kathy in your thoughts and prayers, as well.

  1. Dear Kerry and Barb,
Having just finished my treatment for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL)two months ago, I know that it matters what subtype of AML it is. I also heartily recommend that she goes to Barnes-Jewish Hospital at St. Louis for treatment. They have one of two leukemia wards in the U.S. at the Siteman Cancer Center, and are the best in the business. If I can be of assistance, you know how to reach me. Feel free to pass my number along to her. We wish her well. Chemo for leukemia is no walk in the park, but it can be beaten. I just learned the other day the Kareem Abdul Jabar has CML, which is not curable, but is highly treatable. She may also want to look at chemoregimen.com to see what her treatment is.

  2. Dear "Ahrens" sisters,
You guys are the most amazing people I have ever seen. It's not enough to be champions for fighting the cancer that Kerry is dealing with; but here you are asking for prayers for Kathy.

I think of you guys often and have prayed for Kerry to have complete healing. I should try to go out with you "girls" sometime; but I'm not much of a drinker so I suppose I could be the DD if needed. I do like a good Margarita now and then.

Take care and thank you for being the awesome people you are!!!

    Love,
    Betsy

  3. I would like to speak with you about an opportunity to blog about Raging Waves, Illinois' largest water park, located in Yorkville. We would like to invite you to attend a media day event where you could experience the park with your family.

Please let me know if you are interested. You can drop me a line at cameron.w.oconnor@gmail.com.
